Frequently Asked Questions
Ejector Pumps
What will a sewage ejector pump do?
It will pump the sewage from your house into the city sewer whether the city sewer is flooded or not. Your basement plumbing will no longer be directly connected to the city sewer. When the city sewer floods, it will not flood your basement.
If I have a sewage ejector pump installed in my basement and it fails, will my basement flood?
If the pump or electric power fails, you can stop the use of your plumbing fixtures to prevent basement flooding. If it does flood, it will flood with your own wastewater rather than someone else's. The sewage volume from your home will be very small compared to many sewer backup problems. For instance, it would take your family a month to produce enough sewage to fill your basement to a level of less than 2 feet.
